Formal Dog Obedience

Puppy Training
Our obedience training program begins right when the dog goes home with a family. Remember the puppy is a baby and needs to positively experience all sorts of things in life to become happy, confident dogs.

Coaching Younger Dogs
We believe your dog should be calm and relaxed and know when it’s ok to be excited, run and play. Your dog needs boundaries and both mental and physical stimulation to be this way and our dog obedience program helps build this foundation for your dog.

Formal Obedience
Our formal obedience program begins around 6 months old and dogs stay at our kennel for a few weeks of consistent work with our qualified trainers. Dogs graduate with the manners of a pup beyond their years.
Our Obedience Program:
We have a robust dog training program at Lone Duck Kennels. Most dogs begin our formal obedience starting at six months of age; however, we have dogs of all ages work through our process. Why do we wait until dogs are at least 6 months old? By that time, they should be big enough to run and play with other dogs at the kennel, have all their health shots to make sure all dogs at the kennel are safe for each other, have their adult teeth, have a longer attention span for more detailed training and by then, they should be properly crate trained.
Your dog will leave our program walking nicely on a leash, not jumping to greet visitors, they will know the “place” command and come promptly when called. Our dogs are well-socialized and exercised several times each day on our 50-acre property located just north of Syracuse, NY.
We believe dogs should be comfortable and confident in all situations and that begins the second you bring the dog home. We work with each obedience training client to make sure they were well-equipped to transition their dog back to their home. It’s important that our clients understand how to communicate effectively with their dog so everyone is happy.
